2017; Mixed-media Interactive Installation (3-D printed ceramic, led lights, arduino, laser, wire, and diffusion film, acrylic, mdf, sumi ink, paper)
The installation “Untitled (Tether)” explores the limits of connection and communication. The viewer is presented with a situation in which they must step between two ‘phones’ that appear to be communicating with each other. The painting on the wall serves as a visual analogy for the two devices, as the faces are similarly locked in a shared gaze that cannot be broken. As the viewer steps in-between the two devices, their body becomes a physical barrier, thus breaking the bond of the two entities. In this act, the viewer implicates themselves in the situation.
